Our church lovingly welcomes Betty J. O'Neal, C.S. of Lynn,Massachusetts. Betty is a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. She will be giving two lectures begining on Thursday August 28, 2008 @ 2:15 PM. The first is titled "Perplexed? " and it will be held  at our church.Two more lectures on this subject will be given, Friday August 29th @ 11:30 AM in our Atlantic City Reading Room location as well as Saturday August 30th @ 3PM at the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center. (see the location tab here in our website for directions to each of these lectures).Learn how Christian Science heals. (this lecture tells how spiritually based prayer can be put into practice, including being saved from school bullies, finding companionship and physical healing). The second lecture is titled "The Impact of Gratitude on Healing"  on Friday August 29th @ 6PM and it will be held in our Reading Room location also,(this lecture demonstrates how the healing power of gratitude impacts employment and health and illustrates how a home was found in a time of dire need).

Betty has been a Chrisitan Science practitioner for over 30 years and is listed in The Christian Science Journal. Betty received a Master's of Education degree from Cambridge College, Cambridge ,Massachusetts.She also served as an on-air Host for a Boston based television program.

Come join us as she talks of the healing mission of Chrisitan Science and how it helped her as she served as a mentor and coach for unemployed and underprivileged women. It is a joy to Betty as she helps others find solutions to problems through prayer based scientific laws of God. All are welcome!!!

The Church of Christ, Scientist is designed to make the healing and educational system known as Christian Science available and accessible to everyone. Christian Science enables us to understand our relationship to a loving God and our relationship to each other. This understanding improves our lives, our communities and the world. The complete explanation of Christian Science, which is practiced by people of all faiths, is contained in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. 

About Us

The First Church of Christ ,Scientist of Atlantic City was incorporated in 1905 and erected in 1910. This smaller edifice was later taken down and a much larger church was built. This church had a seating capacity of 457 in the main auditorium, and approximately 200 in the Sunday School rooms (which were constructed in 1929 at a mere cost of $150,000, compared to todays costs). We merged with Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Atlantic City, 1958. We later sold our original church edifice and property on Brighton Avenue. During the time our new church was being remodeled the Masonic Temple of Atlantic City, came to our aid and our church held services in their temple for several years, until we moved to our present location in Chelsea Heights section of Atlantic City in 1982. 

We also have opened a Reading Room in a separate location from our church. It is located in the heart of Atlantic City. Please see the tab for our Reading Room for all information needed.
